HOPE Retools to Keep Students Learning
On March 16th, HOPE paused onsite programming, but did not pause its work with adult jobseekers.
HOPE converted its entire suite of services so that students could access them remotely. HOPE now conducts virtual outreach and info sessions for new program candidates online. The organization has also distributed laptops and hotspots to ensure connectivity of students and graduates, offered classes remotely over Google Drive, Hangouts, and Zoom, and delivered virtual COVID safety training and industry certifications for essential workers and for upskilling while graduates are furloughed.
HOPE also engages in wellness and case management check-ins, offers a virtual job club and placement support for graduates, and connects both students and alumni with verified information and emergency resources.
HOPE plans to continue innovating to bring unique, timely programming and services to students that reflect the needs present during the pandemic, including job loss support, essential job connections and protections, upskilling and training, trauma counseling, and emergency resources.
