We Rise Launches New Initiative to Meet Crisis

The “We Rise” program is an initiative developed by the Worker Institute, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and the National Domestic Workers Alliance to address the injustices and challenges that nannies and caretakers face in the domestic worker industry. CWE provides support to We Rise to fund trainers in four languages—English, Tibetan, Nepali, and Spanish.

In response to COVID-19, the We Rise cooperative launched We Rise Cares, a new initiative that focuses on providing essential services to their community during crisis. We Rise’s trainers make outreach calls, provide coaching, organize peer support circles, and distribute education materials in local languages.

We Rise has continued workforce education, through instructional videos and online training, and plans to adjust these offerings to meet changing needs as industries reopen.
